Day 2

When I think about the above statement how do I feel? Do I believe that I can become like the Savior? Do I believe that I am A Child of God and that through the Love of my Savior, I can become a person worthy to return and live with my Heavenly Father? What divine qualities do I have that are like the Saviors?

Isaiah 28:13

            “But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little…”

Embroidery

When I was a little boy, my mother used to embroider a great deal. I would sit at her knee and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She informed me that she was embroidering. As from the
underside I watched her work within the boundaries of the little round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked messy from where I sat.

She would smile at me, look down and gently say, "Son, you go about your playing for a while, and when I am finished with my embroidering, I will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side."

I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the bright ones and why they seemed so jumbled from my view. A few minutes would pass and then I would hear Mother's voice say, "Son, come and sit on my knee." This I did only to be surprised and thrilled to see a beautiful flower or a sunset. I could not believe it, because from underneath it looked so messy.

Then Mother would say to me, "My son, from underneath it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize that there was a pre-drawn plan on the top. It was a design. I was only following it. Now look at it from my side and you will see what I was doing."

Many times through the years I have looked up to my Heavenly Father and said, "Father, what are you doing?" He has answered, "I am embroidering your life." I say, "But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumbled. The threads seem so dark. Why can't they all be bright?" The Father seems to tell me, "'My child, you go about your business of doing My business, and one day I will bring you to Heaven and put you on My knee and you will see the plan from My side." – Author Unknown

Challenge: Develop your divine qualities. Read Matthew 5:9; John 15:12; Galatians 5:22–23; and
1 John 4:21. Memorize your favorite verse from one of these passages. Identify the divine qualities mentioned in all these scriptures and list them in your journal. Select one quality, and for two weeks strive to make it a part of your daily life. Record your experiences in your journal.

Day 1

Do I know that my Heavenly Father loves me? How do I know this is true? Do I know that I am His daughter? Do I know that I lived with Him before I came here? Because of His love for me, He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. As you think about these questions today, consider the story in this poem.

Alma 32:21

            “And now as I said concerning faith – faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.”

Faith of Little Mary

Challenge: Increase your understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ by reading Isaiah 53:3–12; John 3:16–17; Romans 5; 2 Nephi 9:6–7, 21–26; Alma 7:11–13; 34:8–17; and Doctrine and Covenants 19:15–20. In your journal write your feelings about the Savior and what He has done for you. Share your feelings in a testimony meeting.

A Week Walking with Christ (Intro)

So it has been quite a while since I have posted anything on here but today I just wanted to post something that I was working on for church. I am teaching this Sunday in Relief Society, the lesson is getting to know your sisters, and getting to know Christ. We will be playing games to help us get to know the sisters in the ward, then I will hand out these packets.

These packets have 7 envelopes in them, one for each day. In each envelope there is questions, a scripture, a story, and a challenge. Each day the sisters are to open an envelope in the morning and ponder on the things they read that day. After 7 days they will feel closer to the Lord.

I wanted to post this on here, I had something similar when I was in Young Women's, it was a 14 day walk tho and I was hoping to shorten it to a week. But it must have been something that my Young Women instructors made, because I couldn't find it anywhere on the Internet. I did find my copy at my parents house, and edited it to be for more than just Young Women.

With posting it here I am hoping to be able to have it available for others to use :)

A Week Walking With The Savior

The only way we can really know another person is to walk in their shoes. Think what they think. Learn what they know. Read what they say. Then most importantly, do what they do. Christ said, “Be ye therefore perfect.” We can only accomplish this as we become like him. At this Easter Season we are going to take a week, 7 days, walking with Christ. For the next week please follow these instructions. As you do you will have the opportunity to think about our Savior Jesus Christ and the sacrifice that He made in our behalf.

Instructions:In the morning: set aside enough time to open the envelope for that day. Each day has a set of questions followed by a story, or poem, and a scripture, and challenge to help you walk with Christ. Read and PONDER what is written. Try to keep what you read in mind throughout the day. Perhaps take it with you to reread. At the end of the day: evaluate how you did, and write your thoughts and feelings in your journal

Our Wedding

Cassidy and I got married on May 16th 2009! I figured its about time for me to update this!!

We were married in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple. It was a beautiful ceremony and we had a wonderful reception! I have alot of pictures, I only picked a couple to put on here but if you want to see more you should check out my facebook page it has most of them!!

Joining the Blogs

So.. I decided to be like everyone else and start a blog for myself!!! Hopefully I can get more pictures uploaded onto my computer for this. Well just an update about what's going on with me right now.. I am currently at BSU, and have finally decided on a major (now that I will be starting my 5th semester in January). I am majoring in Elementary Education. I am on the Boise State Colorguard (which we will hopefully be going to a bowl game this year!) I finally found a part time job... working at a job I had 2 years ago.. Vector Marketing (they sale Cutco Knives) I'll be working as the receptionist on Mon,Tues and Fridays. 13 hours a week. Im not sure how much I'll be getting paid yet though.. but at least its a job!
As for my health.. I dont know how many people know this.. but I had recently had a couple seizures this year due to stress. One in August and one a month later in September. (I was just starting a new semester at school, was trying to find a job, and was at the time finding new roommates, and two of my really good friends, James Abbott and Dave Campbell, were both arrested in August for burglary.) So I was going through alot of stress at the time and have been diagnosed with Epilepsy, and am currently on medication. It took me a while to get used to the medication but I am doing fine. I am not allowed to drive until I am seizure free for 6 months.. so that'll be march.. until then its finding rides everywhere I go.
I am right now living in Boise with 5 other girls in a 3 bedroom 2 and a half bath townhome. So I usually am able to find rides everywhere. Its been alot of fun living with these girls and getting to know them. Our lease ends in January so we are hoping to renew it.. but we will see what happens when the time comes.
I am currently dating someone right now.. His name is Cassidy Bond. He is 25 years old and majoring in Mathematics, and minoring in Spanish at BSU. We met at the Institute building through some mutual friends. He has been a member of the church for 7 years and went on his mission to Costa Rica when he was 22. He currently works at UPS in Nampa and is trying to transfer over to Boise so he doesnt have to keep driving between Boise and Nampa everday for School and Work. He has been very good for me and we have been dating for a month now!
Well I think that pretty much sums up my life right now.. If I think of something else then I shall add some more.. I will try to keep this thing updated!
